It’s not a heart attack

The annual occurrence of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in Europe is 350,000 people per annum. It begins with a sudden collapse, and tragically few survive.

This is sudden cardiac arrest.

It is a common misunderstanding that sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and a heart attack are the same thing. Knowing the differences between these diseases and how to take immediate action is essential to maximising a victim’s chance of survival. When either SCA or a heart attack occurs, it’s imperative you call local emergency services and then step in to help right away.

Make sure anyone can help.
