Embracing Sustainability taking action to ensuring a sustainable future for all
The International Centre for Sustainability and Excellence (ICSE) will be hosting the 5th International SHEQ Summit to take place on the 15-16 August 2024 at Royal Villas at Ezulwini in Eswatini. The SHERQ summit is a gathering of visionaries, HSE professionals and experts passionate about redefining sustainability, safety, health and environmental practices. This event is packaged to provide a platform for attendees to gain insights, connect with like-minded colleagues in the HSE and sustainability field.
The worldwide landscape of health safety and the environment has noticed an unexpected shift due to the recent pandemic and the global meltdown. The crisis we have experienced is now compelling us to relook and re-define approaches of how to ensure the well-being of the workforce and the sustainability of the environment. Additionally, as we move out of the crisis it is quite necessary that the focus is not only on resilience but also on innovation adaptability, future thinking and continuous improvement approaches.
The summit focuses on sustainability and mindset changes and is driven by the prevailing economic climatic change conditions affecting humans’ health and other environmental issues affecting the world and business. We need to embrace innovative, sustainable ways of thinking and addressing challenges as essential for creating a safer, healthier, and more sustainable environment. This summit supports the transformation agenda implemented by the aims to drive Eswatini forward through innovative practices and sustainable development. This conference advocates for extending these best practices to other industries, including service sectors, to ensure comprehensive safety standards across all disciplines.
Approach
This summit will feature keynote presentations and panel discussions led by industry leaders and experts. These sessions will cover the latest trends, challenges, and innovations in SHE practices. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with peers, industry leaders, policymakers, and key stakeholders, fostering strategic partnerships and collaboration. There will also be exhibitions promoting sustainable practises.
Objective of the summit
The main objective includes capacity building. The Summit will equip participants with the latest knowledge, skills, standards and tools necessary to excel in safety, health, and environment (SHE) sustainability, disaster management and preparedness as well as mental health and psychological safety and unpack new HSE legislation. Participants are also expected to gain insights and practical strategies from industry experts to enhance workplace safety and health environment and sustainability. The sustainable strategies and benefits of investing in Health Safety Risk Environment and sustainability in companies addressing Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4,5,6,7,8,11,13 and 17) will be covered.

In conclusion the Summit will delve in driving sustainable practices, with emphasis on promoting sustainable practices to protect the environment and provide actionable insights and strategies to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainable development within organisations.
