
As the deadline of nominations for the 2021 Africa Safety Award for Excellence (AfriSAFE) come to a close in few days, the South Africa Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (SAIOSH) has endorsed the prestigious award which is set to honour outstanding performances of safety individuals and organisations across African continent. AfriSAFE, a leading global brand aimed at recognising and celebrating excellence in health, safety, and well-being on the African continent, has over the past 22 months, recognised hundreds of people from thousands of nominations across 12 African Countries. While announcing the few days left to nomination of individuals and organisations in the various categories, AfriSAFE Chief Coordinator, Femi Da-silva, said the 2021 award is dedicated to celebrating the super humans of everyday life committed to making the world safer and better, as he tipped that nominations could still be made via www.afrisafe.org within the days left. Some of the award categories include the AfriSAFE Mining Company of the Year; AfriSAFE Health & Safety Team of the Year; AfriSAFE Excellence in Fire and Life Safety Award; AfriSAFE Maritime Shipping Company of the Year; and AfriSAFE Best Health & Safety in Construction, among other various categories. “As a health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) inspirational body, AfriSAFE is passionate about raising awareness about the importance of safety in workplaces and our communities at large. Hence, the Awards are dedicated to celebrating only entities who have distinguished themselves working assiduously to promote health and safety across board,” Da-silva said. With plans also on the way to kick-off it’s award campaign, themed “I am Safety” to boost safety awareness in the workplace and environment, Da-silva noted that AfriSAFE sponsorship remained open for all organisations that prioritise safety and health as they join in further spreading and raising safety and health awareness across the continent. AfriSAFE 2021 is sponsored by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), the world's largest chartered membership body for Safety and Health professionals; Hybrid Group, Combined Training Solutions (CTS), Eximia Realty, Joint Professional Training and Support (JPTS) and SAIOSH.
