The Parliament Review Copy of the Proposed OHSAct Amendment Bill – Published on 12 May 2021

On the 14 May 2012 the proposed Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSAct) Amendment Bill was published in accordance with Parliament Procedures prior to it being presented and reviewed in Parliament.

Later it will be published again for Public comment before it will be finally promulgated into law.

 This currently published “draft” Bill outlines the anticipated clause/s additions, deletions and changes that are being planned to be introduced into the OHS legislation in due course.

Although there are many changes, the main significant addition involves the introduction of Administrative fines for specific OHSAct clause non-compliances (Schedule 2), while the offence conviction fine moves to R5 million (Schedule 1) .
